JANUARY 2011

January 30, 2011 (Sunday 13th Annual Florida Motorcycle Expo)

9 members attended the 13th Annual Florida Motorcycle Expo & Bike Builder Invitational held at QS&L. The weather was great for the event, there were plenty of vendors, and bikes in the bike show. Inside the build off tent there were at least 20 fantastic bikes presented by the builders. QS&L had a buffet for $8 containing 6 different types of wings, salad, kielbasa, salisbury steak, potatoes, green beans, brownies and pudding. It was a fun day. Til next time.

January 29, 2011 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)

It was a cool morning in the north country as we left to meet the group at CMS for the breakfast ride. There were 13 of us in attendance and now that it warmed up nicely the group decided to go to Crabby Bill's Seafood Inc. on the beach for breakfast. The food, service, and prices were excellent. After we ate some of us went home and others went to the fundraiser for the families of the fallen heroes in St. Pete. Til next time.

January 28, 2011 (Memorial Service)

18 known members attended the Memorial at the First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg for St. Petersburg Police Department's fallen officers, Sergeant Thomas Baitinger S23 and K9/TAC Officer Jeffrey Yaslowitz K2, who died in the line of duty on Monday January 24, 2011.

January 22, 2011 (Saturday Breakfast and Largo Touch a Truck Event)

15 members and guests met at the Farmer's Kitchen for breakfast prior to going to Largo Central Park for the City's annual "Touch a Truck" event. Breakfast, service, and prices were very good (as usual). After we all ate we went to the park to setup for the kids touching our bikes. The big hit this year was Rick's trike, everybody wanted to sit on it. Also the kids had fun with the siren, horn, and lights on Mark's Honor Guard Bike. This year the bad thing was the wind and cold (but no rain). It was a good day. Til Next time.

January 16, 2011 (Sunday Chapter Ride)

12 members and 1 guest, a visiting BK from Maryland I, met at Burger King. We left promptly at 10 am. We took a ride all the way along MLK Blvd. (this reporter realized she needs to get out of the suburbs more. There are some real strange characters walking the streets of the city) to near the Polk county line. Then for a scenic ride to Lake Wales (right before arriving at our destination The gps took us on a dirt and gravel road). We ate at Cherry Pocket Steak and Seafood Shak. Then many of us went to Plant City and had strawberry shortcake for dessert. After stuffing ourselves we all got home safe and dry. It was a lovely day. It also needs to be said, Bill, the visiting BK reported after viewing the websites of various chapters to visit with and ride with while in this area, we have the most scheduled events listed. We wish him safe travel and those of us who are not retired or who have to pay nannies and pet sitters to leave are so jealous of him. Just think riding from Md to Ca and cause the weather sucked changing the itinerary to hang out in Fl till it gets better. Hugs and stuff, T.

January 15, 2011 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)

16 members met at CMS on what was a nice winter morning for the breakfast ride. We were finally able to locate a restaurant that could take our large group, (now that the snow birds are here filling everything up) the Fireplace Family in Largo. The food was very good, prices great, service excellent and funny. After breakfast the 7 of us from the north rode back along the coast, nice ride, but colder then the inland roads. Til next time.

In addition to what has been reported about feeding our faces this am. It needs to be known that two groups of ladies of the knight with some friends went out this morning. One group went to a tea house. The other went to Nanny's Restaurant. From what I gather the tea party was fun. Our Spring Hill girls ate well checked out a produce stand and a fitness center. Except T, who ate well and went home to bed, as she worked all night the night before. Love and kisses T

January 8, 2011 (Saturday Breakfast Ride and Jim's HD Chili Cook-off)

Today started at 5am for me in order to meet the rest of our member setup group for Jim's Chili Cook-off at the Egg Platter in Pinellas Park at 7am. We all had a good breakfast with plenty of coffee to start our day. After eating it was on to Jim's to setup and for Chef Peter D. to begin preparing the 10gal of chili (at least). We could not have asked for a better day, sunny, warm, with a slight breeze (not like last year's rainy 38 degree start and as the day went on getting colder). The event started at 11am and the people were there ready to eat. 36 of our members and 1 guest attended, to help with the serving and to do some pr for us with the public. Peter made enough of our blue hot chili so we would not run out and it paid off as we won the trophy and the award for the hottest chili, but the surprise came when we won the Jim's choice trophy. It looked to me that everyone had a fun day. Til next time.

January 1, 2011 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)

9 members met at CMS on what was a sunny and warm morning for the first breakfast ride in 2011. After some tire kicking it was decided to go to a place that part of the group has been to and part hasn't, the Safety Harbor Grille. The food, prices, and service were good. After breakfast 4 of us went to Tampa to meet 2 other members and participate in the New Years Day High Noon Ride. After the blessing, there was a nice 55 mile ride through Hillsborough and Pasco Counties ending back at Trout Creek Park for lunch. After lunch everyone headed out to do what ever you do on New Years Day. Til next time.
