JANUARY 2010

January 30, 2010 Saturday

This morning we met each other at the Farmer's Kitchen in Largo. We had a good breakfast. We then went to Largo City Park for Touch A Truck. The event gathers every kind of truck, city car, ambulances, a helicopter, a race car, and our motorcycles. The children in attendance are invited to honk horns, work sirens, use the ramps and lifts and in our case sit on the bikes. There were 16 of us involved. The kids loved it. The parents also seemed very appreciative. We had the threat of rain hovering above us until abut 12 noon when the skies leaked. We braved the elements until 2:00p.m. Rain gear was used by everyone. Driving back to Spring Hill had many slippery moments. It is safe to report a good time was had by all. I personally had forgotten how many different shades of green toddler snot comes in. A smart young man asked how much a bike like Don M's cost. We told him 1 month's allowance. Then, all joking aside, the young man was told $20,000. He said something like I better be careful. The kids seemed to favor Mark C's., honor guard bike. They also liked Mike B's. bike. Our new guy, Jim B. was with us today. He seems groovy we are happy he has joined us. Can't wait to see you all! January 23, 2010 Saturday

The sea fog was still very heavy this morning riding to and at CMS, but that didn't stop 19 members from meeting for the breakfast ride. Bruce and I met The Spring Hill breakfast attendees at Joey Speed's on highway 19. We headed down 19 to Country Side Mall. All the guys offered me a pair of gloves. I dressed for the high of the day. I explained I kept my hands warm by putting them between Bruce and the seat. There was also a wardrobe dysfunction on the way to the mall. My ponytailer slid off the bottom of my braid. When we got off our bikes I felt it slide down out of my shirt and into my pants. It felt like a bug moving. Once again Bruce was a good friend he reached in and retrieved it. I then proceeded to fix my hair. While I was distracted the guys decided the Pub was cool, we had a larger group. Joe E. was there he and his lovely Marie are going up to New York Monday. Our condolences to Joe as sometimes we are lucky enough to make good friendships that last our adult lives and we love these friends like family. Jimmy S. and Scott R. joined us. The guys are talking Bike Week and planning the up coming activities. On Saturday is Touch a Truck. I signed my ray of sunshine up for spring ball last night though. I guess I will see you all when his ball schedule permits, except for when I make ride arrangements for him. Remember a smile is just a frown upside down, and if you give someone your smile another one will find you. Hugs till next time T.

January 18, 2010 Monday

36 members and guests met at the Frontier Cattle Co. for the 2010/2011 officer and board member installation dinner. It was a very nice evening except we missed some of our Blue Knight friends who have become loved like family. Here's hoping everyone is well and just chill'in out a bit. It was great to see Karen in her yellow scarf. She looked like a beam of sunshine. Patti also looked very pretty in a black jacket and slacks. I enjoyed coming home from work and putting on something pretty as well. Even durable out on the bike kind of girls like to get done up once in a while. Marie had some of her lovely bead work for sale. I did not even look, I'm looking and thinking Avon lately. My cranky German doesn't understand the need for such girl like gadgetry though. It was lovely to see Breen and Penny. He was at the meeting but this is the first we have seen her since they returned from the deep freeze some of us refer to as back home or up North. The food was good and priced fairly. We sounded like a lunch room at a high school, very loud, then bread and salad came. At this we started talking quietly with just those near us. When our dinners arrived a pin dropping in the next room would have been heard. I hope everyone had as great of a time as it appeared. Until Saturday breakfast stay cozy and safe. T

January 16, 2010 Saturday

11 members and 2 guests met at CMS for the breakfast ride on what was a threatening Saturday morning. The weather gave us a break. Joe E. took some pictures and we all stood around and gossiped about you because you were not there. We went to Country Harvest because they have a yummy $5.00 steak, egg, home fries, and toast breakfast. It was good. Fred P. as well as Fred Jr. and Mrs. Fred Jr. were there too. It is always great to see Fred out. After breakfast we all went on to the next part of the day. I went little league shopping with my son. He got a bat, a gear bag, and a bag of balls. We happened upon an awesome sale. We got a $27.00 bat for $7.00. Such a deal. My German cutie wanted to get the kids' hair cut so we did that too. Tomorrow is the Sunday ride. Monday is the Inaugural Ball. Hope to see you all there. T

January 9, 2010 Saturday

7 members met at the Egg Platter in Pinellas Park at 6:45 am today for breakfast and then went to Jim's HD to setup for the chili cook-off. We had a good breakfast to get us off on a good start. Then headed over to Jim's. We were among the first groups to get started. Peter D. must have been a chef in a past life. All of us chipped in throughout the day doing what ever we could to help him. EXCELLENT job Peter D.. The original 7 were joined by 18 more of us through the course of the day people came and went. Ron D. even brought his grandson Ron. He is here visiting from PA. Mr. Schmitt feeling like reliving days gone by brought a 1/2 gallon of blackberry Brandy. When mixed with hot chocolate it tasted like dessert yum yum. I got to be fifty fifty girl for Jim's Harley for 4 hours. We bought most of the fifty fifty tickets. While the serving was underway we had a burner in the center of a tent behind our main tent and we sat around the gas fire and socialized. Gary J. is really very good at lifting a lid so Peter D. could serve and Peter B. enjoyed sending gold fish out to swim in a bowl of chili. Folks that liked our chili really liked it. Despite what the contest results were everyone who tasted what was out there knew ours was the hottest. After the results were announced at 3p.m. We all loaded Gary's truck and took stuff to Joe E. and Marie's. This is when it really caught everyone's attention that we all didn't have as much brandy as a certain straight faced German we all know to be wrapped a little tight. I was the sober one leading by the arm and belt loops! Let me tell you my sweetie sounded like a high school kid who was shit faced for the first time. We stayed at Joe E. and Marie's long enough to get a pot of coffee and dinner into him. It was like so cute to see this side of B. For 3 hours he told us his views on many topics but he always ended each conversation with how much he enjoys certain parts of the female anatomy. He also enjoyed talking about things that go on in the backseat of the car at the drive in. (I wonder if when he was 15 he was this preoccupied with them.) Wish you all could see this side of him. It was something to see. Marie has her bead work at a store now and another Lady Knight will be opening a pottery place, a you buy it, and paint it there, then she glazes and bakes it. Best of luck to both of them. It is very admirable when people find ways of turning what they enjoy into businesses. Another great thing Breen and Penny Savage are back! Welcome back!! Well our meeting will be this Thursday see you all there. In the mean time snuggle up close to your sweetie and stay warm....T..

January 3, 2010 Sunday

7 members met at BK to participate in the first Chapter ride of 2010. We enjoyed a ride led by Jimmy to the Post Card Inn, because everyone knows the best time for a ride along the beaches is when it is 35 degrees out! I was the only one of our ladies silly enough to put on: 2 pair long underwear, 2 pair of hiking socks, 1 turtle neck, 1 quilted flannel, 1 lined leather jacket, 1 vest, 1 turtle fur that covers my head like a Muslim woman's hood thingy, a helmet and mitten sweater knit lined leather gloves. One of our ladies was home taking down the tree. Mine is still up, I told my cantankerous German I was planning just to change it to red and white lights and hang hearts all over it. He lacked to get enthused. Our new leader was with us today as was Mike B. Joe E. and Don M. who started the ride but took off on his own. We missed the rest of you. Our lunch was delicious. Prices were average and service was great! The looks people gave us in the parking lot and in the lanes next to us at red lights led us to believe our flies were open or something. You would think they never saw a group of polar bears on motorcycles! Looking forward to seeing you at the Chili Cook-off at Jim's. Many warm Hugs T

January 2, 2010 Saturday

12 members met at CMS for the polar bear (breakfast) ride this morning. I was told it was time to get up this morning at 7 and to dress warm. We met a few at CMS then a few more came. A can of cookies was being passed around. It was brought by the lady who is attached to the cranky German. We were all so happy to see Vic. It was suggested to go to Screwie Louie's on the beach. A fan kept blowing on the one table, Some of our guys thought the others might be over heating. Then were so amused to see how long it took to be noticed. Wayne said it best; With so much hot air at the table who's going to notice a little fan. Food was good brought out in a timely fashion and prices very good. It was really a hot toddy morning but Mr. Schmitt ordered me coffee, he can be a old poo sometimes! After breakfast everyone had things to do. Peter D. was going to get chili supplies. Bobby B. was going home to hit the gym with his lovely wife. Bruce and I rode all over we got home about 3pm. I know every one remembers tomorrow is a Sunday ride day. See you all there hugs and wishes for a speedy spring. T
