FEBRUARY CRUISING REPORTS
February 28th 2010 (Sunday Chapter Ride)
Seven members and one guest met at Burger King for the scheduled Sunday lunch ride. As we all sat in Burger King deciding where we should go, I found out that our member Dick DelRossi lives in Northport and rode up with guest Dick Olten, for the Sunday ride. If I was more observant when I read the recent master member's list, I would have realized that Dick and Leone lived 90 miles south. When I asked Dick why he joined FL XVII, instead of FL XVIII (Sarasota) or FL XVI (Ft. Myers). Dick said that he had many North East friends on FL XVII. We decided to head south and eventually end up at the Linger Lodge for lunch. I knew that Dick and Dick had not been to the Linger Lodge before and would enjoy the strange atmosphere. We also wanted to make their ride back to Northport easier. After riding through south Hillsborough and Manatee county country roads, we made it to the Lodge. We were seated quickly. The service and food was adequate. Not as good as previous visits. After lunch we all said good-byes. Peter B and Tommy Mac took a leisurely ride home. Dick & Dick headed south and Mike B, Ken & Sandy Steinberg and I drove on I-75, a little above the speed limit, to our destinations. I was very impressed on how easily Ken's spider kept up with our Goldwings. Until next time when Teresa will be reporting. Ride safe, Dennis
February 13th 2010 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)
14 members of BK-FL XVII Truck and Motorcycle Club (more trucks then motorcycles) met at CMS on this cold, wet morning for the breakfast ride. We went to the Fireplace Family Restaurant. We had Wayne without his bride as well as the Branam brothers. Gary, Joe E., the Coxes, Fred, Peter B., Peter D., Ron, Vic, and of course Brucie and me. We all were happy with our food, the prices and the company we were in. The only real complaint was service was kind of slow. They did not try to serve it all at one time though that was groovy. The ride home in the car on 19 was a nerve racking experience. Hope you all are busy smooching with your sweeties or cranky old farts which ever you have! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!! XXXOOO
February 6th 2010 (Saturday Breakfast Ride
14 members met at CMS on what was a partly cloudy somewhat windy morning for the breakfast ride. We were joined by a visiting BK from Ontario on her trike. It was decided to go to Ted's in Largo (home of the Garbage Omelet), the call was made to see if they could handle us and we were advised "no problem". Gary led us on the half hour ride over, when we arrived the restaurant had the entire front of the place reserved for us. The servers took our drink and food orders, which as always came out quickly and excellent. We were joined a the restaurant by Wayne, who brought our total to 15. After the great breakfast everyone headed out to do their own thing. Til next time--
