APRIL CRUISING REPORT 2010

April 29, 2010 through May 02, 2010 (Thursday - Sunday Spring SRC)

39 members and 6 guests attended the spring SRC hosted by FLXVIII in Sarasota at the Airport Holiday Inn (an almost new hotel whose staff couldn't do enough for us). The chapter had many things planned for us to do during the 3 main days of the conference. Kudos go to Rory McConnell, his board, and all the members of FLXVIII for a job well done in providing us with a great conference. Our members participated in many of the events through out the weekend and some even won them as Jim Seibel, male tricycle race, Leone Sullivan, female tricycle race. We also had the oldest rider, Tricky Dick and the youngest rider, Cory Runnels. BK-FL XVII (that's us) was the largest chapter in attendance and was awarded the plaque. There was a whole bunch of other good stuff to report, but the Ride Writer has a real job and could not attend and I didn't take notes. Til next time

April 24, 2010 (Saturday BK-FL XXII Ride to Remember)

Bruce and I left our home at 7:00 a.m. We had a nice ride to Palm Coast. We met up with Perry and Mike at the event. It took them 2 hours to get there, on the interstate. It would have been nice if more of our Chapter members would have turned out. We paid our respects to fallen officers then took a lovely ride through the loop and the surrounding area encompassing 4 counties, the ride included the American Flag hung across SR100 at I95 from 2 high rise ladder trucks for the 500 bikes to pass under. After the ride we had music and lunch at The White Eagle Lounge. Bruce and I won the 50/50. After that the Branam boys wished us safe home and went home. We visited for a while with Casey and Jackie from the Daytona Chapter. They're all such good kids in that chapter! Bruce and I then went to JB's Fish Camp. They are a tradition for Bruce and me. There are just some places where if we are with in a hour of them we try to work them into the itinerary. Places like Tony's in Cedar Key, or JB's in New Smyrna Beach. Now I have been told they are listed in Southern Living Magazine as having the best key lime pie. It is the best I have ever had! B and I got home at 11pm safe and sound. Well my kids just might remember who I am I want to go see. Hope to see you all at the SRC next weekend. Hugs and smooches, T

April 22, 2010 (Thursday Dinner Ride)

27 members and 1 guest met at Colonnade for the monthly Chapter dinner ride. We were a large group that grew larger. We saw many faces we don't get to see all the time. Our President and first lady were there. They are getting back to the same old; same old after their great vacation. The McDermotts were there. Steve is really doing so great! It is amazing how the human body and spirit can overcome disaster. The Domizianos crossed into Hillsboro County. Don and Karen joined in, as did Kevin and Verna. Claude came out to see everyone as he is getting ready to go back to Canada for the summer. Joe E. had his Marie and her friend Joanne. Perry and his Barbara came out as did his brother Mike. Gary was there looking really fit, and skipping dessert (such a smart kid that Gary). Patti and Roland looked marvelous simply marvelous darling. Her hair was done, she had on a cute dress and was sporting a tan. They also had some relaxation and family time recently. Our quartermaster and his lovely Rosalie came out. We also saw sweetie poo, (Peter B.) and honey poo (Tom M.) with their wives. What a wonderful evening.. Great food and Good Company. The waiter and server did a great job. Once again I'm left saying how we are like one big family. We are all different. We get on each others nerves. We laugh and argue and carry each other in thought and prayer. OKAY if my cantankerous German doesn't delete that I'll be shocked. One more thing I'll be like the little mother hen for those of you who haven't been around lately, I'll say, what's wrong you can't visit or call? You make us all worry! Hugs and sap and shit T....

April 17th 2010 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)

18 of us met at BK. We posed for photos and talked a bit. We then proceeded on our way to Plant City. We ate there at Buddy Freddy's Country Buffet. I don't want to sound like my cranky German however I must report it left a lot to be desired both the service and the food were lacking. After breakfast we went to the air show in Lakeland. They had a lot of good looking men in uniforms walking around the many planes. They were very happy to answer questions. The Thunderbirds followed a couple of other groups. The show caused a sense of awe. A group of new enlistees got signed up. No matter how one might feel about our government, we have to be just totally indebted to the fine folks in all branches of the service. After the air show Vic's son Anthony went up in a plane to learn something about flying. Jimmy waited to see if he Needed help finding the gate. The rest of us went home as it was over. We got a few drops nothing to stress over. Night night! Hugs and kisses T.

April 11th 2010 (Sunday Chapter Ride)

A member and his woman met at 1:30pm in the kitchen and decided the 40% chance of rain was nothing to worry about for them or the general Tampa area. It was a beautiful sunny day. Not to hot just right! After some conversation this couple headed for the Biker Bash at Seminole Hard Rock. It was great. they had a lot of cool bikes and venders. The hotel had a $10 ayce cook out lunch. Potato salad, coleslaw, beans, pork, hotdogs, hamburgers, cookies, brownies and drinks. After the event was over at 6pm, this cute couple then headed to check out a restaurant for a future dinner ride. It was so yummy. The flavor of all the fresh food tap-danced on my taste buds. Till next time, hugs and kisses T.

April 3rd 2010 (Saturday Breakfast Ride)

It was a great morning and it brought 23 members to CMS for the breakfast ride. After the morning tire kicking in the Sears parking lot, being that we were a large group, we tried to think of a place other then a buffet that would be able to seat and serve us quickly. one of the suggestions that was made was to try Central Park (no, not in New York City) on SR54 in NPR. We called and the owner welcomed us, so off we went. Peter B. led and Bruce tailed. The ride took about 40 minutes and when we arrived the staff was ready for us with 2 long tables set and 3 servers ready to take orders. Gary was not with us today, so other then Tony, who volunteered to be served last, we were served our breakfasts quickly. The food was very good and the prices were really reasonable. Did I mention that they have 60 different omlet choices. After we ate we left in smaller groups for different destinations, Breen S. Jimmy B. and I went to Gulf Coast HD for, well you know. Til next time---
