June 27 - 28, 2009 Saturday & Sunday - 6 members met 31 other Blue Knights in Titusville for the BK-FL IV sponsored overnighter to the area. Saturday was a nice relaxing day. Some of our members went the day before. B and T left Spring Hill Saturday morning. We all knew the plan at about noon. Most everyone went to a park then to the National Police Museum. We all met back at the hotel at about 4. The rocket was scheduled to be launched at 5, most of us had found the hospitality room by that time. Word was the rocket was getting rescheduled. So being good Blue Knights we headed out to a buffet (all the steak you can eat for $11) for dinner. We all ate to much. At dinner a few got up and rushed out, the rocket must have been what they went out for. After returning from dinner we all went back for more hospitality. Alex had a game for some of the old guys. They were given a Corona bottle with water in it and a plastic cup. The cup was put on the floor in front of them They had to put the bottle between their legs and pour it into the cup much like taking a piss. The old guy with the most water in his cup won. Our Dennis got to play. The knight who got most of his water into the cup was Al from Chapter 11. The part I found most funny was a few of them thought they were done then water continued to dribble out. Some of them tried to shake the bottle when they thought they were done. It was a cute game. Alex also being so smart about safety handed out a Fema preparedness book for each chapter. This was a strange hospitality room in that everyone could walk themselves back to their rooms. We all had a breakfast provided by the hotel. We got home at noon. Cheryl was wanting to go to Ron Jon's so who knows maybe she still has Dennis out there surfing. It is now time to finish getting ready for Monday, so till next time HUGS and KISSES!
June 27, 2009 Saturday - At the recommendation of the Ride Coordinator, I arrived at the CSM at approximately 8:40AM in anticipation of the large crowd wishing to participate in the Scheduled Chapter Saturday Breakfast Ride. I was informed that there would “probably be more people attending the Breakfast Ride then going on the overnight to Titusville.”
The skies had performed their usual Summer cleaning duties and were in the process of clearing for the remainder of the sunshine portion of the day. I walked the area of the parking lot as I often do, searching for and removing any metallic articles from the pavement. This gives me a bit of exercise, kills the time and performs a service to the chapter members who were going to park their motorcycles in the area. By 9:10AM, I had cleaned the area which we normally occupy on Saturday morning and increased that area to include the rental car parking spaces. By the way, anyone in need of small bits of scrap metal can get some from the grassy divider next to our parking area.
Anyway, at the designated “kick-stands up” time of 9:15AM, assuming the usual designated role of our Chapter Vice President and digital photographic archivist “Mr. Pixel” Joe Edelmann, I took the photo of our Saturday Breakfast group prior to leaving for a fantastic meal. The entire group proceeded on a lovely ride through the middle of Pinellas County and had a great meal at the Bayview Drive BMW Resort & Spa. The meal was actually complimentary after making a promise to the owner’s wife. Till next week.
June 25, 2009 Thursday - 13 members and guests met at BJ's Restaurant and Brewery for the monthly Chapter dinner ride. BJ's is a restaurant and a micro brewery which makes all the beer that they serve. It was a little tough getting started as our reservations were for 7:45 and we didn't get seated until 8:15, but once we were seated service was excellent. There are hundreds of items on the menu (something for everyone) making it difficult to decide what to have, the food is very good, the portions are large and are priced right. It was hard to socialize at dinner because we were too busy eating, but we still managed to get in some conversation and fun. Til next time---
June 20, 2009 Saturday - on a morning that started out in the low 80's, 24 members and guests met at CMS for the breakfast ride. Many suggestions of places to go were made and the group finally decided on Pickles Plus Too. We called ahead to be sure that our large group could be handled and was told yes. The ride to Cleveland St. went quickly, which was good as it was getting hotter. There was plenty of room in the restaurant and our tables were all put together, however there was only one server to start, so as she took our orders, Gary served coffee, Pattie served water and I brought the creamers and by the time we were done the rest of the staff arrived and took over. The service and food were good, the prices were fair, and even though it was hot it was a good morning. Til next time---
June 14, 2009 Sunday - it was another almost summer day, temperatures starting in the 80's and 7 members were at the BK for the Sunday Chapter ride. After much discussion Joe E. made the decision to take a short ride through Pasco County and end up at Fatty-n-Mabel's on the river in NPR for pork wings, this idea was agreed to by all in attendance. We took about a 60 mile ride and got to the restaurant just before the rains, which cooled the air and allowed us to sit on the deck on the river. Most of us had pork wings and of course beer to wash them down. After an hour or so the rains stopped and it started to warm up again, but it was almost time to leave anyway. It turned out to be a good day for those of us that were there and for those of you that weren't, oh well. Til next time--
June 13, 2009 Saturday - 20 members met at CMS on this hot, disgusting, almost summer morning for the breakfast ride. A new place called Kenny's Korner in Redington Shores was suggested, so since we are always open for new places, this is where we went. The ride took about 40 minutes and when we arrived the restaurant appeared very busy, but we all found a place to park. Since we were just up the road from Dennis Hughes he was called to join us and he did. Inside it took about 5 minutes to get seated at the tables because we had to wait for the earlier customers to leave. The wait staff was really great with bringing us coffee and taking our orders, the food which was excellent (taste and portions) was served quickly. After breakfast a group of us went to Fletcher's HD for a slush or two after a stop at the Friendly Tavern to check on the ayce specials. Til next time--
June 07, 2009 Sunday - (special breakfast ride) 6 members met at American Legion Post 238, Safety Harbor for the ayce pancake breakfast to benefit the Girl Scouts. Service was supplied by the Scouts, who did an excellent job of taking and delivering the pancakes, bacon and sausage We got our own coffee, tea, and juice. After breakfast we took a ride through the country across the counties to John Knox Village to visit Steve (who by the way looks really good and is improving more and more every day). After our visit most of us headed home, Gary though went Bass Pro Shop to check things out. Of course as usual T and I didn't make it through Pasco County without getting wet, oh well it was a good day anyway. Til next time----
June 06, 2009 Saturday - 8 members met at CMS this morning, using various means of transportation, for the breakfast ride. It had rained on and off at home, but the radar said there was no rain south so T and I rode. For once the weather people were right it stopped raining in Hudson and became a nice morning. Since we were a small group it was decided to try a new place, Angie's Restaurant on Cleveland St. in Clearwater. The service was good, food not bad although a little pricey. After breakfast a few of us went to Fletcher's HD to look around while others went home. It was good to be out, even though as usual T and I got wet going home Til
